NetSuite 2026.2 did not stop changing when it went live. Oracle ships a monthly release on top of it, and the October release was documented in the Help Center on 19 October 2026. This is what changed, read from Oracle's own release notes and help topics, and what to do about each item.
Direct answer: the October 2026 monthly release for NetSuite 2026.2 adds a new SuiteScript 2.1 script type (Event Subscriber, asynchronous, 1,000 usage units and 300 seconds per execution), version 3.0.0 of the MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp with File Cabinet tools, record actions and record transformation, bank reconciliation records exposed to AI clients, a new Setup > Agent Management menu, ten Ask Oracle changes, and an end of support for the Project Resource Management SuiteApp on October 27, 2026. Many of the AI items require NetSuite Next, which Oracle is rolling out in phases.
What to act on first
| Change | Who it affects | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Project Resource Management SuiteApp ends support on October 27, 2026 | Accounts with the SuiteApp installed | Review dependencies and uninstall before the date; evaluate Oracle's two named alternatives |
| Event Subscriber script type | Developers with user event scripts doing follow-up work on save | Identify afterSubmit logic that slows saves and move it to an asynchronous subscriber |
| MCP Standard Tools 3.0.0: record actions, record transformation, File Cabinet access | Anyone connecting Claude or ChatGPT to NetSuite | Re-read the connected roles; configure Allowed File Cabinet Access before custom tools touch files |
| New MCP permissions on Specialized User CRM roles, default None | Administrators | Grant only when needed, per Oracle |
| OAuth 2.0 enabled automatically for SuiteAnalytics Connect | Teams using Connect for BI | No action required; OAuth 2.0 is now Oracle's preferred method for Connect |
Event Subscriber: a new SuiteScript 2.1 script type
Oracle describes it in one sentence: "Event Subscriber scripts are server scripts that run asynchronously after supported events occur." The events are record events, such as a record of a selected type being created, updated or deleted, and the subscription criteria in the script's definition decide which events trigger it. Each execution allows up to 1,000 usage units and can run for up to 300 seconds.
The intended use, in Oracle's words, is "follow-up processing that does not need to finish before the originating record operation completes": sending a notification after an invoice is created, updating related information after a record changes. That is the work many accounts run today in user event afterSubmit functions, where it adds time to every save and surfaces errors to the user when a downstream system is slow. Moving it to a subscriber takes it off the save path.
Two things to know before using it. Oracle documents the script and its subscription criteria as an SDF custom object (a new eventsubscriber XML definition and a topic on Event Subscriber Scripts as XML Definitions), so plan on deploying it from a SuiteCloud project. And "asynchronous" means the originating operation has already completed when your code runs; validation and anything that must block the save stay in user event scripts.
In the same release, the N/llm module gained llm.reRank, which ranks a list of document strings by relevance to a prompt using the cohere.rerank-v4.0-fast model, and Oracle moved its N/llm, N/documentCapture and N/machineTranslation samples to SuiteScript 2.1 syntax.
MCP Standard Tools 3.0.0: files, actions and transformations
The SuiteApp that powers the NetSuite AI Connector Service moved to version 3.0.0 in NetSuite 2026.2, and the October notes document what it added:
- File Cabinet MCP Apps and tools. Interactive interfaces to browse folders, search file names, upload files and send supported file contents to the conversation, plus tools to list folder contents, resolve paths and internal IDs, and attach or detach files on records.
- Record actions. Tools to "discover and execute actions for specific NetSuite records from an AI client." Available actions depend on the role and the record's state; the tools do not create actions, record macros or bulk actions. Oracle's own caution: actions "can immediately change data and affect related processes, so review an action before you execute it."
- Record transformation. Identify supported transformations and create records from existing ones, "such as invoices from sales orders."
- Runtime session tool. Returns the account, role, enabled features and granted permissions behind the AI connection, which is the quickest way to debug a role that shows fewer tools than expected.
- File Cabinet access controls. Administrators must now configure Allowed File Cabinet Access on the Custom Tools page before custom tools can read, upload or replace files. An empty list blocks file access entirely.
Alongside the SuiteApp, Oracle exposed five banking records to AI clients through MCP and REST web services: Bank Reconciliation Suggestion, Banking Statement, Banking Transaction, Transaction Match, and the record actions on reconciliation suggestions. The stated purpose is to let users "accept or reject suggestions through those clients." In practice, someone with the right role can review and act on reconciliation suggestions from Claude or ChatGPT, with the role's permissions deciding what they see.
Two administrative details come with this. The Specialized User CRM roles gained the three permissions the connector needs (MCP Server Connection, Log in using OAuth 2.0 Access Tokens, REST Web Services), at a default level of None; Oracle says to grant them only when needed. And the Similar Cases feature in support cases now indexes cases closed after 7 October 2026 and shows up to five related cases when you click Generate Insight.
For the setup itself, the roles and the errors people hit, see how to connect NetSuite to Claude.
Agent Management and ten Ask Oracle changes
The AI settings moved. Company-level generative AI settings now live under Setup > Agent Management, and the AI Preferences page is now Agent Preferences. From there an administrator reaches the Skills list, Prompt Studio, the Manage access to NetSuite Next page, the Ask Oracle Access page and the AI Unit usage dashboard.
Ask Oracle's October changes, all from Oracle's What's New page:
- Customer-specific item pricing: the price level and unit rate the pricing engine selects for a customer, item, quantity, currency, subsidiary and date, with comparisons across quantities or customers.
- Saved instructions that apply to every chat for the current user.
- Option cards in responses when Ask Oracle needs more information or recommends a next action.
- A notification when a response finishes in a collapsed or switched chat.
- Search of chat history by title.
- Pinned chats.
- Dark mode by default in the mobile apps.
- Saved searches created from natural language, for users with NetSuite Next access.
- Actionable cards in the chat panel and AI canvases.
- Five new core skills (accounts receivable reconciliation, custom agent configuration, period close template planner, reconciliation file routing, skill creator) and four updated ones, including Period close readiness review renamed to Period close management.
Oracle's caveat applies to most of this list: NetSuite Next "is being made available to customers in phases, so these features may not yet be available in your account." Core skills are read-only and designed for NetSuite Next; Oracle says they may not work as expected in the current experience.
Banking and smaller changes
- Bank reconciliation. The summary portlet shows the count of automatically reconciled transactions in the last 30 days; matching improved for enriched bank data and for customer and vendor names inside long memos; when a bank connection needs multifactor authentication, NetSuite now emails a notification and stops automatic imports for that account instead of retrying.
- Standardized bank import error codes. Nine new codes (2000001400 to 2000002000, plus 0000000400 and 0000000401) that developers of Financial Institution Connectivity plug-ins should return.
- Login page. A new look, Oracle's words: "modernized."
- Inventory. The NetSuite WMS app processes vendor consigned inventory items, with inbound shipment receiving, inventory transfers, work order picking and build assembly not yet supported on mobile. A Supply Chain Planning Engine Workbook under Analytics > Workbooks.
- Items. The Item Creation Assistant supports batch editing and shows validation warnings before creation.
- Customization. NetSuite validates AI descriptions on custom fields, custom record types, custom transaction types and their overrides in Advanced Record Customization; AI descriptions for custom segment applications and for the custom records backing segments.
- SuiteAnalytics. OAuth 2.0 is enabled automatically in accounts that use SuiteAnalytics Connect; existing Connect setups keep working, and OAuth 2.0 is the preferred method. ODBC driver 9.0.37.0 for Linux, with OpenSSL 3.5.7, available since 19 October 2026.
- REST web services. Task results in asynchronous batch operations now carry a
"rel": "request"link to the original request. - Developer tooling. A new SuiteCloud Developer Assistant panel in the SuiteCloud Extension for Visual Studio Code, which requires Cline 4.1.0 or later.
- Other SuiteApps. NetSuite Connector custom data syncs with Salesforce; audit approval workflow and bulk audit control assignment in Compliance 360; United Arab Emirates electronic invoicing; currency exchange rates from Banxico; a Japan Bank Feeds SuiteApp; template-based assemblies with independent BOMs in NetSuite CPQ.
End of support: Project Resource Management SuiteApp, October 27, 2026
Oracle's notice is explicit: "NetSuite will end support for the Project Resource Management SuiteApp on October 27, 2026. After this date, the SuiteApp will no longer receive updates, issue fixes, or customer support." Accounts with it installed should stop using and uninstall it before that date, after reviewing "custom records, scripts, workflows, saved searches, reports, and integrations" that depend on it. Uninstalling does not affect existing project task assignment or resource allocation data. The alternatives Oracle names are the Resource Allocation Chart/Grid SuiteApp and the Project Task Manager SuiteApp.
What to do this month
- If Project Resource Management is installed, run the dependency review this week; the date is five days from this post.
- List the user event scripts whose afterSubmit work could run asynchronously, and test one as an Event Subscriber in sandbox.
- If anyone connects an AI client to the account, re-read the connected roles against the 3.0.0 tool list, set Allowed File Cabinet Access deliberately, and decide whether record actions should be reachable at all.
- Check the Specialized User CRM roles: the new MCP permissions default to None, and should stay that way until someone needs them.
- Add the Agent Management page to the administrator's monthly review, with the AI Unit usage dashboard.
