What is the Model Context Protocol (MCP)?
MCP is an open standard created by Anthropic that lets AI models securely connect to external data sources. Instead of copying your data into an AI platform, MCP lets the AI query your systems directly through structured tools—with full permission controls. Think of it as an API specifically designed for AI agents.
Will this work with our custom NetSuite setup?
That's the whole point. Off-the-shelf AI tools only understand standard NetSuite fields. We build tools that map your exact configuration—custom records, custom fields, saved searches, and workflows. The more customized your NetSuite, the more value you get from custom MCP tools.
Is our data safe?
Yes. MCP tools operate within NetSuite's existing security model. Every tool respects role-based access control, so an AI agent can only access data that the associated NetSuite role permits. No data leaves your environment unless you explicitly configure it to.
Do we need to pick a specific AI model?
No. MCP is model-agnostic. We build the tools once, and they work with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or any MCP-compatible AI. If you switch models later, your tools still work.
What can AI actually do in NetSuite with MCP tools?
Whatever you build tools for. What happens if the AI tries to do something it shouldn't?
