NetSuite Implementation Rescue
Failed or stalled NetSuite projects

NetSuite implementation rescue

BrokenRubik takes over NetSuite implementations that went badly: stalled before go-live, live but not working, or left without the team that started them. We are an independent NetSuite consultancy, NetSuite-only since 2017. A rescue starts with an assessment of the account, the data, the integrations and the project history; you get a written recovery plan at a fixed price, and then we finish the build.

Warning signs

Signs your NetSuite implementation needs a rescue

One or two of these is ordinary project friction. Several at once, week after week, means the plan has to change rather than get another month.

The verdict updates as you go, by the rule above: one or two is friction, several at once is a plan that has to change.

Your situation

Working with your current firm, or after it has left

We write findings about the account, not about the people who built it. The point is the next go-live.

  • Your current firm is still on the project

The assessment works as a second opinion, and we can take a defined piece of the work, such as data or integrations, alongside them. Whether to hand over the rest is your decision, made after you have read the findings.

  • The firm has left or stopped answering

We start from the account itself. We ask for administrator access to production and sandbox, the statement of work, the open-issues list, logins for any connector, and code kept outside NetSuite. Where none of that exists, the assessment writes it down from what is in the account.

  • An in-house team started it

We work with whoever owns NetSuite on your side, use standard features wherever they do the job, and document every script and integration mapping so your team can maintain what we leave.

How a rescue runs

How a NetSuite rescue works, step by step

There is no standard duration for a rescue: it depends on how much of the original work holds up, and the assessment is what finds out.

  1. Find out

    1. 01

      A short review

Tell us where the project stands. First reply within 24 hours; after the first conversation, a scoped estimate within 48 hours.

    2. 02

      Assessment

We go through the account, the customizations, the data, the integrations and the project history, whoever built them. If something is blocking orders or the close, we fix it during the assessment instead of waiting for the report.

  2. Decide

    1. 03

      Recovery plan

A narrower first go-live: core financials, order-to-cash, the inventory you actually move. The rest becomes phase two. The plan sets one date, the order of the work, who decides on your side, and a fixed price.

The recovery plan states the date and the price before the work starts.

  3. Deliver

    1. 04

      Fix and finish the build

Configuration, scripts, workflows and integrations are fixed in sandbox first. The data plan gets redone where it has to be: extract, clean, map, and reconcile, so finance can prove the numbers tie out.

    2. 05

      Test with real transactions

Your team runs a real order, a real fulfillment and a real month-end in the sandbox. The gaps show up here, while there is still time to close them.

    3. 06

      Go-live and handover

A controlled cutover, support through the first weeks, and a documented inventory of every customization. Everything we build lives in your account. Keep us on a monthly retainer or take it in-house.

The assessment

What we look at first, and what you get

The assessment decides everything after it, so it comes before any proposal to rebuild. Rebuilding everything is rarely the answer, and patching a setup that does not fit only moves the problem.

What we look at first

The account
Subsidiaries, chart of accounts, items, roles, forms and the settings behind them.
Customizations
Every SuiteScript file, workflow and custom record: what it does, whether it runs, what depends on it.
Data
What migrated, what did not, and whether balances and open transactions tie back to the old system.
Integrations
Each connection, what it syncs, how it fails and who finds out when it does.
Project history
The statement of work, the open-issues list, the decisions taken and the test results.
What we fix, and when we recommend rebuildingKeepFixRebuildPhase two
Core setupFix in place whenSubsidiaries, chart of accounts and item structure fit how you operate, and the problems sit in specific records, forms or workflows.Rebuild whenThe core setup does not match how the business runs, so every report and process has to work around it.
CustomizationsFix in place whenA script does a job NetSuite cannot do natively, it runs, and someone can read it.Rebuild whenScripts recreate the old system inside NetSuite or duplicate a native feature, and nobody can say what they do.
DataFix in place whenBalances and open transactions reconcile to the source, or the gaps can be traced and corrected.Rebuild whenThe migrated data cannot be reconciled to the source. The migration plan is redone: extract, clean, map, reconcile.
IntegrationsFix in place whenThe approach suits the systems and the volume, and each failure has a known cause.Rebuild whenA flow has no error handling, no owner and no documentation, and failures surface downstream as wrong orders or stock.

Rebuilding a part rarely means starting from nothing: the account, the licenses and the data work usually carry over.

What you get

  1. 01

    An inventory

What is in the account and what it is for, whoever built it.

  2. 02

    Findings

Each area sorted into keep, fix, rebuild, or leave for phase two.

  3. 03

    The data position

What is missing, what does not reconcile, and what it takes to close the gap.

  4. 04

    A recovery plan

Scope for the first go-live, the order of work, what we need from your side, one date and a fixed price.

How a rescue is priced

How a NetSuite rescue is priced

Fixed price for scoped work, a monthly retainer for ongoing work, and a written quote after a short review. What moves the number is how much of the original work holds up.

Factors that affect cost:

  • How much of the existing configuration holds up
  • Scripts and workflows to fix, replace or remove
  • Data to re-migrate or correct, and whether it reconciles
  • Number and state of the integrations
  • Whether you are already live
  • How much of the original scope goes into the first go-live

What's included:

  • Assessment of account, data, integrations and history
  • Written findings: keep, fix, rebuild, phase two
  • Recovery plan with one go-live date and a fixed price
  • Fixes built and tested in sandbox first
  • Testing with real transactions alongside your team
  • Go-live support and an inventory of every customization

Not included: NetSuite license fees (paid directly to Oracle; we have no licenses to sell), connector and iPaaS subscriptions, and support after go-live (available as a monthly retainer).

What companies ask before a rescue

01

What is a NetSuite implementation rescue?

+

Taking over a NetSuite project that has stalled, overrun, or gone live without working, finding out what in the account holds up, and getting it to a go-live the business can run on. It usually means a different team from the one that started the project, and it starts with an assessment, not a rebuild.

02

Who can rescue a failed NetSuite implementation?

+

Three kinds of help exist: the original firm with a re-scoped plan and a decision-maker on your side; Oracle's own NetSuite professional services; or an independent NetSuite team that takes the project over. BrokenRubik is the third kind: an independent NetSuite consultancy, NetSuite-only since 2017, that takes over projects started by another firm or by an in-house team. Whoever you choose, ask for an assessment of the account before you accept a proposal to rebuild it.

03

Can you take over a NetSuite project another firm started?

+

Yes. We start from the account itself: configuration, scripts, workflows, custom records, integrations and data, whoever built them. We document what exists, tell you what holds up and what needs redoing, and write a recovery plan with a fixed price. You keep your NetSuite license and the work that holds up.

04

Do we have to end the contract with our current firm first?

+

No. The assessment works as a second opinion while your current firm is still engaged, and we can take a defined piece of the work alongside them. Sometimes the fix is a decision-maker on your side or a narrower scope, not a new firm. If that is your case, we will say so.

05

Can a failed NetSuite implementation be fixed without starting over?

+

That is the first thing the assessment answers. When the core setup (subsidiaries, chart of accounts, item structure) fits how you operate, we fix the problems in place. When it does not, we recommend rebuilding that part. Even then the account, the licenses and the data work are rarely wasted.

06

How long does a NetSuite rescue take?

+

It depends on how much of the original work holds up, and nobody can tell you that before looking at the account. The assessment finds out. The recovery plan then states one go-live date, based on a narrower scope with data migration and testing inside it, before the work starts.

07

How is a NetSuite rescue priced?

+

Fixed price for scoped work, monthly retainer for ongoing work, and a written quote after a short review: a scoped estimate within 48 hours of the first conversation. NetSuite licenses are not part of it. You pay Oracle directly, and we have no licenses to sell.

08

What do you need from us to start?

+

Administrator access to production and sandbox, the statement of work and any design documents, the open-issues list, logins for any connector or integration platform, and any code kept outside NetSuite. Above all, one person on your side with the authority to make decisions. If the documents do not exist, the assessment writes them from what is in the account.

09

Our NetSuite is live but not working. Is that a rescue?

+

Often, yes: reports finance does not trust, integrations that drop records, scripts nobody can explain. The process is the same (assessment, plan, fixes, testing) without a go-live at the end. Once the account is stable, ongoing work can move to a monthly support retainer.

10

Who owns what you build or fix during the rescue?

+

You do. Every script, workflow, saved search, custom record and integration we build or fix lives in your NetSuite account, and at handover you get a documented inventory of every customization. There is no lock-in: if you take support in-house or move to another firm, it all stays with you.

11

Is BrokenRubik an Oracle NetSuite partner?

+

No. We are an independent NetSuite consultancy, not an Oracle partner or license reseller, so nothing we recommend in a rescue carries a commission. What we can show is the work: 100+ companies served, NetSuite-only since 2017, a 5.0 rating on Clutch, and Celigo Standard Partner for integration work.
