NetSuite QuickStart is a free finance platform from Oracle NetSuite for early-stage US tech startups. It does bookkeeping, banking, invoicing, bills and subscriptions with AI, and it connects to Claude and ChatGPT. Oracle announced it on October 14, 2026.
Direct answer: NetSuite QuickStart is free for eligible early-stage technology startups in the United States: typically five people or fewer, a single legal entity, using it as their first financial system. It covers accounting, bank feeds and reconciliation, invoicing and collections, bills and expenses, products and subscriptions, plus startup metrics such as MRR, burn and runway. It is free within monthly limits, including 2,500 new business records and four connected bank or card accounts. It connects to Claude and ChatGPT through MCP. When the company outgrows it, Oracle says the data and history move into NetSuite. Oracle does not say what that costs.
Checked on November 5, 2026 against Oracle's QuickStart press release and the QuickStart page on netsuite.com.
Who qualifies
Oracle's QuickStart page describes the target precisely:
- Early-stage, high-growth technology startups in the United States.
- Typically five people or fewer.
- A single legal entity.
- Using it as the first financial system, without a finance team or a traditional sales and implementation process.
Oracle's own page says to choose NetSuite instead if you have a larger team, more than one legal entity, international operations or a need for advanced financial controls. Funding and revenue thresholds are not stated.
Outside the US, it is not available. That includes our clients in Latin America and Europe.
What is included
| Area | What QuickStart does |
|---|---|
| Banking and reconciliation | Bank feeds, AI-assisted categorization and matching, journal entries, tax tracking; balance sheet, income statement and cash flow reports |
| Invoicing and collections | Customers, quotes, sales orders, invoices, payments and credits, with an integrated payment solution |
| Bills and expenses | Vendors, purchase orders, bill approval and payment, expense capture, NetSuite Pay |
| Products and services | Physical, service and digital items, inventory tracking, ShipEngine shipping integration |
| Subscriptions | Recurring and usage-based billing, in advance or in arrears, SaaS and receivables metrics |
| Setup and support | Self-service setup, custom fields and segments, audit review, an MCP server, an AI help agent and email support |
Oracle says setup takes minutes, and the press release says under 10 minutes. An accountant is not required, but one can be invited.
The free limits
The free plan has monthly limits. They reset every month and unused capacity does not carry over.
| Limit | Per month |
|---|---|
| New business records (invoices, bills, sales orders, journal entries, subscriptions, customers, items) | 2,500 |
| Emails | 800 |
| New documents | 175 |
| Document storage | 20 GB total |
| Connected bank and credit card accounts | 4 |
| Concurrent integration requests, MCP included | 2 |
For a five-person software company, 2,500 records a month is a lot of room. A company selling physical products online will use it up faster, because every order, customer and item counts.
Using it from Claude and ChatGPT
QuickStart has an MCP server, the open standard AI assistants use to connect to other software. Oracle's page gives two examples. In ChatGPT, a founder asks what QuickStart handled recently and it confirms a payment from a customer's parent company matched to the right invoice. In Claude, a founder mentions a new early-payment discount and QuickStart updates the invoice, sends the confirmation and reports when the payment arrives. It can also flag cash gaps in Slack.
Two practical notes. MCP requests count toward the limit of two concurrent integration requests. And the AI client may need its own paid plan. If you later move to NetSuite, the equivalent there is the NetSuite AI Connector Service. We explain the setup in our guide to connecting NetSuite to Claude.
When to move to NetSuite
Oracle says the move is built in: data, workflows and financial history go with you. It does not say when you have to move or what NetSuite costs afterwards. These are the signals we would watch:
- You open a second legal entity, for example a subsidiary in another country. QuickStart is single-entity.
- You start selling or hiring internationally, with more than one currency, tax regime or set of books.
- The team grows past the "five or fewer" profile, especially when you hire a controller who needs approval workflows and audit controls.
- You keep hitting the monthly limits, which usually means order volume is outgrowing a startup tool.
- You need integrations with ecommerce, a warehouse or a CRM that go beyond two concurrent requests.
- Investors or auditors ask for revenue recognition under ASC 606 with the controls that come with it.
When that happens, NetSuite becomes a licensed product with an implementation, even if the move from QuickStart is smooth. Budget for both. Our NetSuite pricing guide and implementation cost breakdown give the ranges we see. Software companies in the US and Canada may also qualify for Oracle's new SuiteExpress implementation method.
Set it up so the move is clean
The data that moves is only as good as the data you put in. Five choices that cost nothing now and save a migration project later:
- Design a chart of accounts you can keep. A few clear accounts beat dozens created on the fly by auto-categorization.
- Name customers and items consistently. Duplicates are the first thing a migration has to clean.
- Model subscriptions as subscriptions, not as recurring invoices, so MRR and revenue history make sense later.
- Use custom segments for what investors ask about, such as product line or channel, from the first month.
- Review the AI's categorization every month. Close the month, check what was matched and fix it while you still remember the transaction.
