SuiteWorld 2026 Announcements: What You Can Use Today
NetSuite SuiteSkills: What They Are and How to Use Them
Ask Oracle Connectors: NetSuite as an MCP Client, Explained
SuiteSkills are NetSuite's prebuilt business procedures for AI assistants. For a given task, they tell Claude, ChatGPT or Ask Oracle which data to read and in what order, what to check, how to present the result and when to stop and ask before changing anything. The AI Connector Service provides the access underneath. Oracle announced them at SuiteWorld 2026 on October 26.
Direct answer: SuiteSkills are packaged NetSuite workflows for AI assistants. Oracle speaks of more than 45. On GitHub, that is one plug-in with five skills (Finance, Customers & Sales, Operations, Workforce and Onboarding), which hold 48 step-by-step workflows that Oracle calls runbooks. They work in Claude or ChatGPT through the NetSuite AI Connector Service, and inside Ask Oracle on NetSuite Next. By default they only read and analyze. Any change needs the user's explicit confirmation and stays within what their role allows.
Checked on October 27, 2026 against Oracle's press releases, version 1.0.0 of the SuiteSkills plug-in on GitHub, the NetSuite Help Center and the keynote recording.
SuiteSkills, the AI Connector Service and MCP: who does what
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard AI assistants use to connect to other software. If you have already connected NetSuite to an assistant, you know two of these pieces. SuiteSkills is the third, and it sits on top.
| Piece | What it gives the AI | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| AI Connector Service | Access: an MCP server in your account, authorized with OAuth 2.0 (a standard sign-in that gives the assistant a token, never your password), running as the user's role | NetSuite. See our explainer |
| MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp | Actions: read, create and update records, run reports and saved searches, query with SuiteQL (NetSuite's SQL-based query language) | SuiteApp Marketplace |
| SuiteSkills | Procedure: which tools to call, in what order, what to check, how to show the result | Oracle's plug-in on GitHub, and Ask Oracle on NetSuite Next |
Without a skill, an assistant connected to NetSuite improvises: ask it for close status twice and you may get two different methods. With a skill, it has the same written procedure to follow, in every tool. That was the point of the keynote demo in which ChatGPT, Ask Oracle and Claude gave the same receivables answer. The method came from NetSuite, not from the model.
What is inside: 5 skills, 48 runbooks
Oracle's press release talks about more than 45 SuiteSkills. In the package, the number that matches is the runbooks: 48 individual workflows such as "variance analysis" or "invoice collections". What you install is five skills that hold those runbooks. The Onboarding skill sends each request to the right one.
| Skill | Runbooks | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Finance | 22 | Period close status, journal entry review, variance analysis, cash and liquidity, invoice collections, credit management, revenue leakage, intercompany balances, SuiteTax nexus, bank reconciliation prioritization |
| Operations | 13 | Inventory availability and balances, inventory movement and exceptions, fulfillment performance, return authorizations, vendor optimization, field service, project risk, data visualization |
| Customers & Sales | 8 | Sales assistant, lead management, marketing campaigns, customer support assistant, Advanced Pricing rule review, pricing exceptions, knowledge base gaps |
| Workforce | 5 | Payroll readiness, absence balances, benefits coverage, time approval review, drafting time entries |
| Onboarding | — | Asks your role and goal, suggests workflows and hands off to the right skill |
The press release names nine skills. Seven match runbooks in the catalog: Variance and Flux Analysis, Revenue Leakage, Inventory Movement Insights, Fulfillment Performance Insights, Sales Assistant, Customer Support Assistant and Labor Cost Advisor. The other two, "Project Operations Assistant" and "Time-to-Pay Reconciliation Auditor", are not in version 1.0.0. The package's own notes say Project Operations was left out. The catalog does include a Project Risk Assistant and a Project Financial Assistant. The names may change as Oracle updates the package.
What SuiteSkills can and cannot change
This is the part to read before you connect anything with write access.
- Analysis is read-only by default. Most runbooks return analysis, drafts and recommendations for a person to review.
- Changes need a preview and a confirmation. A runbook acts only when it supports that action, the tools are validated and the user confirms after seeing what will happen. A skill does not retry a change on its own. If the result is unclear, it reads the record again to check.
- Some runbooks stay read-only even if you confirm. Oracle's documentation gives bank reconciliation prioritization as the example.
- Workforce never runs payroll. It audits payroll readiness. It can approve or reject time entries after a confirmed preview and can draft entries for the user to save. It makes no eligibility or employment judgments.
- Everything stays inside the role. Skills check what the session can actually see, respect access denials and say when evidence is missing or partial. Results keep subsidiary, currency and accounting book context.
- Output depends on the app. Charts, files and formatting vary between Claude, ChatGPT and Ask Oracle. The data-visualization runbook has its own technical requirements on the AI side.
How to get SuiteSkills
There are three routes, depending on where your users work.
In Ask Oracle. Oracle says SuiteSkills are available through Ask Oracle in the markets where NetSuite Next runs. In the keynote, that meant the US and Canada, with the UK and Australia in preview. See our NetSuite Next guide.
In Claude. Oracle publishes SuiteSkills as a Claude plug-in in the ai-plugins-dist branch of its SuiteCloud SDK repository on GitHub, next to three other plug-ins. It needs a working AI Connector Service connection first. Our guide to connecting NetSuite to Claude covers that step.
In ChatGPT and other OpenAI tools. The same package ships in OpenAI's plug-in format, in the same branch.
Oracle's README notes that installation steps vary by platform. As of October 27, we could not find a SuiteSkills install page in the NetSuite Help Center. Oracle's press release also says SuiteSkills can be downloaded from "popular AI service marketplaces", without naming which ones. We will add tested, step-by-step instructions here once we have run them on a client sandbox.
What you need before any of it:
- the AI Connector Service set up, with the MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp installed and OAuth 2.0 enabled;
- a dedicated non-administrator role with the MCP server connection permission;
- the NetSuite features each runbook depends on. For example, the absence runbook reads SuitePeople HR data, and the Price Rule review needs Advanced Pricing enabled.
Price. Oracle's press release does not mention pricing. The plug-in files are published under Oracle's Universal Permissive License. In the keynote, Evan Goldberg said SuiteSkills are included at no extra cost. Get that confirmed for your contract before you plan around it.
The other plug-ins in the same package
SuiteSkills ships next to three plug-ins that are easy to confuse with it:
- NetSuite AI Companion teaches an assistant how to use the AI Connector Service well: the order in which to choose tools, how to format output, how to handle multiple subsidiaries and currencies, and guardrails for SuiteQL.
- NetSuite Finance Analyst is a single finance skill for reporting, close, variance, aging, reconciliation and cash analysis, written up for leadership.
- NetSuite SuiteCloud is for developers, not business users. It covers SuiteScript, SDF projects, UIF single-page apps, secure coding, roles and permissions, documentation, upgrades and Oracle's SAFE Guide. Developers can also install these skills into coding assistants with
npx skills add oracle/netsuite-suitecloud-sdk, the command in the repository's SuiteCloud Agent Skills README.
Where we would be careful
- Start in a sandbox with one role. Confirmation gates protect you from surprise changes. They do not protect you from confirming the wrong one.
- The role is the scope. A skill can only be as complete as what the role sees. When it reports missing evidence, read that line first.
- Check the first result against what your team trusts. Run the variance or aging runbook once and compare it with the saved search finance already uses. Disagreements usually come from segment or period setup, and they are worth finding before anyone forwards the answer.
- Write down your own rules. The skills bring NetSuite's general procedure. Your approval thresholds, discount policy and close checklist are not in them. At the keynote, JonnyPops said that is its next step: teaching NetSuite and Ask Oracle more about how its business works.
- This is version 1.0.0. Names, runbooks and requirements are likely to change. Oracle keeps a changelog in the package.
A good first session
Connect a finance user's role in a sandbox, open the assistant and ask the Onboarding skill to help you get started. Pick one goal, such as period close status or overdue invoices. Put the answer next to your close checklist and mark what it got right, what it missed and what it could not see. That one page tells you more about your readiness for AI than any demo, and it is the right input for deciding what to roll out to users.
