The Problem

Your Shopify store is half the system. When it's a stack of apps disconnected from your ERP, the back office pays for it.

A fragile stack of apps

Every new requirement is another app and another monthly fee. The store slows down, apps conflict, and nobody owns how it all fits together.

The store and the ERP disagree

Inventory, pricing, and orders live in two places. Someone reconciles by hand, the store oversells, and finance never quite trusts the numbers.

No real developer behind it

A theme customized past what a no-code editor allows, with nobody who can safely change the code. Every tweak is risky and slow.

Slow and bloated

Heavy themes and script overload tank Core Web Vitals — costing rankings and conversions on the pages that matter most.

A store is only as good as what it connects to. We build Shopify as real code and wire it into NetSuite — so it fits your operation, not just your homepage.

Why us for Shopify development

Shopify, built and connected

Shopify that talks to your ERP

Most Shopify shops stop at the storefront. We build the store and connect it to NetSuite — orders, inventory, pricing, and customers in sync, not re-keyed by hand.

Custom development, not app sprawl

When ten apps could be three lines of code, we build it properly. Custom theme work, Shopify Functions, and apps — instead of a fragile stack of plugins that slow the store down.

Shopify Plus & B2B

Shopify Plus B2B, expansion stores, checkout extensibility, and wholesale flows — built for brands selling to businesses as well as consumers.

Fast by default

We build within performance budgets — lean themes, controlled scripts, and Core Web Vitals in mind — so the store loads fast and ranks, instead of looking good and loading badly.

Headless when it earns its keep

Hydrogen and custom headless front ends when you need full control and speed — and a clear recommendation to stay on a theme when you do not. The right tool, not the trendy one.

Commerce engineers, since 2017

We have built and connected commerce stores since 2017. Shopify development sits next to our NetSuite, SuiteCommerce, and integration work — so the store fits your whole operation.

About Shopify development

Shopify development for B2B and ERP-connected brands, explained

Shopify development is everything beyond the no-code store builder: custom themes, Shopify Plus and B2B, custom apps and Functions, integrations, and headless front ends. The difference between a store that scales and one that becomes a liability is whether it is built as real, maintainable code — and whether it connects to the systems that actually run your business.

Need the ERP connection specifically? This page covers Shopify development broadly. For the integration itself, go to Shopify + NetSuite integration.

01

Custom development vs an app stack

Shopify's app ecosystem is great for getting started, but every requirement solved with another app adds cost, conflicts, and load time. Past a certain point, the store is a fragile tower of plugins nobody fully controls. Custom development replaces the worst of that with lean, owned code — a faster store and a lower monthly app bill.

The judgment call is which problems deserve custom work and which an app already solves well. We make that call with you, not for our own convenience.

02

Shopify Plus and B2B

Shopify Plus unlocks B2B and wholesale, expansion stores, checkout extensibility, Shopify Functions, and Scripts — the tools brands need once they sell to businesses or operate at scale. B2B on Shopify is strongest when it is backed by a real ERP for pricing, catalogs, and customer data, which is exactly where our NetSuite work comes in.

Weighing Shopify against SuiteCommerce for a B2B build? Our Shopify vs SuiteCommerce comparison lays out the trade-offs.

03

Shopify connected to NetSuite

A storefront that does not talk to your ERP creates two sources of truth — and someone reconciling them by hand. We build the Shopify store and the NetSuite integration together, so orders, inventory, pricing, and customers stay in sync in real time. One team owns both ends, which means no gap between the store and the back office.

See how we approach it in make Shopify-NetSuite integration work and scale.

04

Headless: only when it pays off

Headless Shopify with Hydrogen or a custom front end gives you maximum speed and design control — but it adds real cost and engineering overhead. Plenty of stores are better served by a well-built theme. We recommend headless only when the traffic, content, or control genuinely justify it, and we are happy to talk you out of it when they do not.

If a decoupled storefront on your ERP is the goal, see NetSuite headless commerce.

05

Built fast, kept fast

A Shopify store lives and dies on speed: Core Web Vitals affect both rankings and conversion. We build lean themes within performance budgets, control script weight, and keep the store fast as it grows — rather than letting apps and imagery quietly drag it down.

Pair the build with ecommerce SEO and branding & storefront design for a store that is fast, findable, and on-brand.

Storefronts, B2B builds, and NetSuite integrations for brands running on Shopify.

Process

How we work

From scope to launch and beyond: build the store, connect the ERP, keep it fast.

  1. 1

    Discovery & scope

We map what the store needs to do — storefront, B2B, integrations — and where the current build falls short. Duration: 1-2 weeks.

  2. 2

    Architecture & approach

Theme, Plus, app, or headless — we recommend the right build for your scale and budget, and design the data flows. Duration: 1-2 weeks.

  3. 3

    Build

We build the theme, apps, and integrations — within performance budgets and as code you can maintain. Duration: 3-10 weeks.

  4. 4

    Test & launch

End-to-end testing across storefront, checkout, and integrations, then a phased go-live with hypercare. Duration: 1-2 weeks.

  5. 5

    Support & evolve

Ongoing development and support so the store keeps up with Shopify updates, new requirements, and peak traffic.

Investment

What drives the cost of Shopify development

We don't publish fixed prices because a realistic figure depends on scope — a custom theme is very different from a Shopify Plus B2B build with a NetSuite integration. After discovery, we provide a scoped proposal.

Factors that affect cost:

  • Build type (theme, Plus, app, headless)
  • B2B complexity and custom logic
  • NetSuite or other integrations
  • Number of custom apps or Functions
  • Migration from an existing store

What's included:

  • Discovery and scope
  • Architecture and approach
  • Theme / app / integration build
  • Performance within Core Web Vitals
  • End-to-end testing
  • 30-day post-launch hypercare

Not included: Shopify and Shopify Plus platform fees, third-party app subscriptions, and ongoing support beyond 30 days (available as a separate retainer) are billed separately or paid to those vendors.

FAQ

What teams ask about Shopify development

01

What do Shopify development services include?

+

Shopify development covers everything beyond the no-code editor: custom theme development, Shopify Plus and B2B builds, custom apps and Functions, integrations with systems like NetSuite, and headless storefronts. The goal is a store built and owned as real code — fast, maintainable, and connected to the rest of your operation — instead of a fragile stack of third-party apps.

02

Do you connect Shopify to NetSuite?

+

Yes — it is one of the main reasons brands work with us. We build the Shopify store and connect it to NetSuite so orders, inventory, pricing, and customers stay in sync in real time. Because we do both the storefront and the ERP integration, there is no finger-pointing between a Shopify shop and an integration vendor. See our Shopify-NetSuite integration service for the integration detail.

03

Custom theme or a stock theme with apps?

+

A stock theme plus apps is fine to start, but it gets slow and fragile as you add requirements — every feature is another app, another fee, and another thing that can break. A custom theme is worth it when performance, brand, or specific functionality matter, or when app costs and conflicts start to add up. We help you choose based on your roadmap, not a default.

04

Do you build on Shopify Plus and B2B?

+

Yes. We build Shopify Plus stores including B2B and wholesale, expansion stores, checkout extensibility, Shopify Functions, and Scripts. Shopify Plus B2B works especially well when paired with a NetSuite back end for pricing, catalogs, and customer data — which is squarely what we do.

05

Should I go headless with Shopify?

+

Sometimes. Headless (Hydrogen or a custom front end) gives you maximum speed and control, but it adds cost and complexity that many stores do not need. We recommend headless only when it genuinely pays off — high traffic, a content-heavy front end, or a need for full design control — and we will tell you when a well-built theme is the better call.

06

How much does Shopify development cost?

+

It depends on scope — a custom theme is very different from a Shopify Plus B2B build with a NetSuite integration and custom apps. We do not publish fixed prices because a realistic figure depends on what you are building. After a short discovery, we scope the work and give you a proposal. Shopify platform and app fees are separate and paid to Shopify.
