The Problem

A brand is only real once it ships. Most ecommerce branding dies in the gap between the designer and the developer.

The brand dies in handoff

A designer makes something beautiful, a developer builds something else, and the live store looks nothing like the mockup. The gap between design and build eats your brand.

Your store looks like a template

A stock theme makes you look like every other store. Without a real brand identity, nothing tells a buyer why you — and price becomes the only differentiator.

Nothing is consistent

The store, the emails, the deck, and the packaging all feel like different companies. No design system means every new asset reinvents the brand from scratch.

Pretty but slow

Heavy imagery and a bloated theme make the brand look good and load badly — costing you Core Web Vitals, rankings, and conversions at the same time.

Design and build belong together. When the same team designs the brand and builds the store, the live site matches the vision — and still loads fast.

Why us for commerce branding

Design and development, one team

Brand and build, under one roof

Most agencies hand you a brand guideline PDF and walk away. We design the brand and build it into your live store — so nothing gets lost between the designer and the developer.

Designed for the storefront, not a slide

Our designers work with the people who build SuiteCommerce and Shopify themes. The brand is designed to ship — real components, real pages, real performance.

A design system, not just a logo

Color, type, components, and patterns documented as a reusable system — so your store, emails, and assets stay consistent as you grow and as new people touch the brand.

B2B and DTC, both

A wholesale portal and a DTC storefront need different design languages. We design for trust and clarity in B2B, and for conversion and story in DTC — often for the same brand.

Beautiful and fast

A gorgeous storefront that fails Core Web Vitals loses rankings and sales. We design within performance budgets so the brand looks great and the page still loads fast.

In-house design team

Our designers are part of the team, not a subcontracted handoff. They sit with the engineers who implement the work, so the brand you approve is the brand you launch.

Brand identity, a real design system, and a storefront that ships — without the agency-to-developer handoff.

About ecommerce branding

Ecommerce branding and storefront design, explained

Ecommerce branding is the identity that makes a store recognizable and trusted — and the system that keeps it consistent everywhere a buyer meets you. For commerce, branding is not a logo on a moodboard; it is how the homepage, category, product, and checkout pages look and feel, how the emails read, and whether it all holds together. The hard part is getting the brand off the slide and onto the live store without losing it in the build.

Already have a brand you like? We translate it into a custom storefront. See custom SuiteCommerce themes for the build side.

01

Branding for commerce, not a logo in a vacuum

A commerce brand has to earn trust and a click at the same time. That means an identity designed for the places buyers actually see it — product cards, category grids, cart, checkout, transactional emails — not just a hero shot. We design the brand and the storefront together, so the identity is proven against real pages before anyone writes code.

The payoff is a store that looks like you, not a stock theme — which is what lets you compete on something other than price.

02

A design system keeps it consistent as you grow

As a brand scales, the threat is drift: every new page, campaign, and email slowly pulls the identity apart. A design system — tokens, components, and clear guidelines — is the antidote. It lets your team and ours extend the brand without reinventing it, and it makes the eventual storefront build faster and cleaner.

We deliver the system as real, documented Figma sources your team can keep using, not a static PDF that goes stale.

03

B2B and DTC are different design problems

A DTC storefront sells story, emotion, and a fast checkout. A B2B portal sells trust, clarity, and efficiency — wholesale catalogs, negotiated pricing, account dashboards, and reorder flows that respect a buyer's time. Many of our clients run both, and the brand has to stretch across them without feeling like two companies.

We design for each context deliberately. If your B2B side runs on NetSuite, that ties directly into our B2B portal work.

04

Rebrand and replatform together

A platform move is the best moment to refresh the brand — you are rebuilding the store anyway. Doing the rebrand and the replatform as one project means the relaunch is a genuine step up, not just the same brand on new infrastructure. We handle both sides, from identity to a live, fast storefront.

See how a real storefront project comes together in how a SuiteCommerce theme project comes to life.

05

Beautiful has to be fast

A design that ignores performance is a liability: heavy imagery and bloated themes tank Core Web Vitals, which costs rankings and conversions. Because our designers work alongside the engineers who build the theme, we design within performance budgets from the start — so the store is both striking and quick.

Pair the design with our ecommerce SEO and performance work to keep it that way.

Process

How we work

From brand audit to a live storefront: design and build, in one team.

  1. 1

    Discovery & brand audit

We learn your business, your buyers, and where the brand stands today — and where it gets in the way. Duration: 1-2 weeks.

  2. 2

    Brand & design direction

Identity, voice, and a clear visual direction, validated with you before we scale it across the store. Duration: 2-3 weeks.

  3. 3

    Design system & screens

We build the system and design the storefront screens — homepage, category, product, and B2B — ready to ship. Duration: 3-6 weeks.

  4. 4

    Build & launch

Our engineers build the brand into your SuiteCommerce or Shopify store — within performance budgets — and we launch it together. Duration: varies.

  5. 5

    Evolve the system

As you add pages, campaigns, and channels, the design system keeps the brand consistent — no reinventing it every time.

Investment

What drives the cost of branding & design

We don't publish fixed prices because a realistic figure depends on scope — a brand refresh is very different from a full identity, design system, and storefront design. After discovery, we provide a scoped proposal.

Factors that affect cost:

  • Scope (refresh vs full identity + system)
  • Number of storefront screens & templates
  • B2B and DTC, or one of them
  • Whether we also build the theme
  • Asset breadth (email, ads, packaging)

What's included:

  • Discovery & brand audit
  • Brand identity & direction
  • Design system & Figma sources
  • Storefront screen design
  • Build into SuiteCommerce / Shopify
  • Launch within performance budgets

Not included: Stock photography and font licensing, paid media, and platform licensing are billed separately or paid to those vendors.

FAQ

What brands ask about ecommerce branding & design

01

What is ecommerce branding?

+

Ecommerce branding is the identity that makes an online store recognizable and trusted — logo, color, typography, voice, imagery, and the consistent visual system behind them. For commerce specifically, branding has to work at the storefront level: on category pages, product pages, checkout, and emails. Good ecommerce branding gives buyers a reason to choose you beyond price, and makes every page feel like one company.

02

Do you design the brand and build the store, or just one?

+

Both — that is the point. Many projects break in the handoff between a brand agency and a development shop. We design the brand and build it into your SuiteCommerce, Shopify, or headless store with our own engineers, so the live site matches the design and ships within performance budgets.

03

What is a design system and why do I need one?

+

A design system is a documented, reusable set of brand elements — color and type tokens, components, layout rules, and usage guidelines. It means your store, emails, ads, and decks stay consistent as you grow, and new designers or developers can extend the brand without reinventing it. For a scaling commerce brand, it is the difference between a coherent identity and a pile of one-off assets.

04

Can you apply our existing brand to a SuiteCommerce or Shopify theme?

+

Yes. If you already have a brand you like, we translate it into a custom storefront — turning your identity into a real SuiteCommerce or Shopify theme with proper components and performance. If the brand needs a refresh first, we can do that as part of the project. See our custom SuiteCommerce themes service for the build side.

05

Do you do B2B branding and design?

+

Yes, and B2B is a distinct discipline. Wholesale portals, account dashboards, and quote-to-order flows need design that signals trust, makes complex catalogs usable, and supports negotiated pricing — very different from a DTC storefront. We design for both, often for the same brand running B2B and DTC side by side.

06

How much does ecommerce branding and storefront design cost?

+

It depends on scope — a brand refresh applied to an existing store is very different from a full identity, design system, and storefront design ahead of a replatform. We do not publish fixed prices because a realistic figure depends on what you need. After a short discovery, we scope the work and give you a proposal.
