NetSuite certification in 2026: what changed and what it costs

Oracle rebuilt the NetSuite certification program in October 2025. The old single-tier catalog (SuiteFoundation, Administrator, ERP Consultant, SuiteCloud Developer I and II, each at $250) is gone. In its place is a three-level, role-based program hosted on Oracle MyLearn, with free entry-level exams and a recertification scheme that became free on 1 September 2026. Most guides on this topic still describe the old program; this one was checked against Oracle's certification pages and FAQ documents on 21 October 2026.

Direct answer: NetSuite certification has three levels. Associate exams are free (Oracle ties this to holding a NetSuite Pass), Specialist exams cost $125 and Professional exams cost $245 per attempt. Oracle currently lists 17 credentials across six tracks: SuiteFoundation, Accounting and Finance, BI and Reporting, Consultant and Administrator, Developer, and AI, with more marked "coming soon". You register and sit the exams on Oracle MyLearn.

The three NetSuite certification levels

Fees are single-use exam credits as listed on NetSuite's certification purchase page in October 2026. Level descriptions and expiry rules come from Oracle's NetSuite Certification FAQ (PDF, printed October 2026). One exception: a SuiteFoundation Specialist credential issued on or after 1 January 2025 does not expire.

Every NetSuite certification, by track

Oracle lists these credentials in its Certification Resource Center. Exam lengths and recommended experience are what Oracle shows on each certification's MyLearn learning path.

"See MyLearn" means the length is shown only after you open the exam registration on that credential's learning path. The developer track has its own guide: NetSuite developer certification: the SuiteCloud exams.

What a NetSuite certification costs

Two policies worth knowing before you book: you must reschedule or cancel at least 24 hours before the appointment or you may lose the attempt, and a purchased exam credit cannot be transferred to another person. Companies can buy credits in bulk and assign them to employees, but once assigned a credit cannot be reassigned.

Validity and recertification

Associate credentials never expire. Specialist and Professional credentials expire 18 months after issue (12 months if issued on or before 30 September 2025), and each renewal lasts 12 months. To stay current you sit a short recertification exam during the window tied to your expiry date:

The recertification exam is open-book, non-proctored, 25 multiple-choice questions, one hour, 70% to pass, and based on the two most recent release notes (currently NetSuite 2025.2 and 2026.1). There is no grace period and no extension: miss the window and the credential expires, and the only way back is the full exam at full price. Oracle sends courtesy reminder emails but states that candidates are responsible for tracking their own expiry date in CertView.

Two credentials are exempt: all Associate-level credentials, and SuiteFoundation Specialist credentials issued on or after 1 January 2025 (plus older SuiteFoundation credentials renewed through the 2024 or 2025 renewal quiz).

Which NetSuite certification should you take?

• System administrator at a NetSuite customer: SuiteFoundation Specialist, then Administrator Professional. Oracle positions Administrator as needing SuiteFoundation plus a year of hands-on work.
• Implementation consultant: SuiteFoundation Specialist, then ERP Consultant Professional, the longest exam (2 hours) with the longest prep path (Oracle's learning path runs about 78 hours of content).
• Developer: Application Developer Professional and Web Services Developer Professional; add SuiteFoundation and Oracle recognises you as a SuiteCloud Developer Professional. Details in the developer certification guide.
• Accountant or AP/AR lead: Financial Associate (free), then the Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable Specialist, then Accounting Professional.
• FP&A: Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist, then FP&A Professional.
• Analyst or report builder: BI and Reporting Associate (free), then BI and Reporting Specialist, then BI and Saved Searches Professional.
• Anyone who wants a first credential this month: AI Foundations Associate. It is free, the learning path is about 80 minutes, and it covers the AI features we describe in the NetSuite AI guide.

Oracle says most exams have no formal prerequisite ("you may start at any level based on your experience"), with any exceptions noted in the exam guide.

How to register for a NetSuite certification exam

1. Create a free Oracle account and open the NetSuite certification page on MyLearn.
2. Open the learning path for your credential, for example Administrator Professional or ERP Consultant Professional. The exam registration sits at the bottom of the path.
3. For Specialist and Professional exams, buy a single-use credit from the purchase page (it links to the Oracle Store). Click the activation link in the confirmation email; the credit lands in your MyLearn Exam Wallet (profile icon, My Learning Dashboard, My Exam Wallet).
4. Schedule the exam from the learning path. Exams run online in Chrome or Edge only; clear the browser cache first.
5. Results and the downloadable certificate and badge appear in Oracle CertView. Employers verify a credential through CertView's third-party verification, which you must initiate.

Accommodation requests go through a My Oracle Learning Support ticket at least 15 business days before the exam.

Is NetSuite training free?

Partly. The free Explorer Pass gives you every Associate-level learning path, the study guide and the practice exam for each certification, and the "Prepare for the Oracle NetSuite ... Exam" course on each path (40 minutes each). Oracle also runs free live sessions; a SuiteFoundation Associate exam-prep bootcamp series starts on 17 November 2026 on MyLearn. The Associate exams themselves are free.

What is not free: the full eLearning courses inside Specialist and Professional learning paths require the LCS Company Pass, a paid subscription (Oracle does not publish its price, and it is sold per company rather than per person). Oracle says the pass "is not required to take the certification exam", so a determined self-studier with hands-on access can skip it. How hard is the NetSuite certification exam?

Oracle does not publish pass rates, so ignore any article that quotes one. What Oracle does say:

• Exams are online, multiple choice, "some may include scenario-based items or simulations", and typically 60 to 120 minutes.
• You are graded on the percentage answered correctly, with no negative marking, so answer everything.
• Screens are locked: no SuiteAnswers, no demo account, no pen and paper (a digital calculator and whiteboard are provided).
• Exams track the current NetSuite release, so a credential earned in 2026 tests 2026 functionality.

From the prep hours Oracle attaches to each path, the difficulty curve is roughly: Associate paths of 1 to 6 hours of content; Specialist paths of 5 to 20 hours; Professional paths of 5 to 78 hours, most of them above 18. Oracle's own experience guidance (3 to 6 months for Associate, 6 to 12 months for Specialist, 1 to 2+ years for Professional) is the honest answer to "am I ready": Professional exams ask what you would do in a scenario, and there is no substitute for having done it.

Prep advice that still holds under the new program:

• Spend real time in a sandbox or demo account before you book; the exams test where things live and how processes flow, not vocabulary.
• Take the practice exam on your learning path first and use the score report's objective list to steer your study.
• Read the last two release notes; they are the source for recertification exams and Oracle likes to test new features on full exams too.
• Pay attention to roles and permissions, saved searches and workflows: they appear on nearly every track.

How older certifications map to the new program

Oracle's recertification FAQ shows how existing credentials are treated:

Renewed credentials appear in CertView as the original name followed by "Recertified" and the year. Older names that no longer appear in Oracle's catalog (SuiteAnalytics User, Financial User, SuiteCloud Developer I and II) have no published mapping; check your own record in CertView and, if you hold one, assume it needs the current exam in its track to be refreshed.
