Oracle Hyperion + NetSuite Integration

Connect Oracle Hyperion EPM with NetSuite to feed actuals into planning models, automate data loads, and bridge the gap between your ERP and planning platform.

NetSuite certified · Proven integration methodology · Ongoing support

The Oracle Hyperion integration automates the actuals data feed from NetSuite into your planning and consolidation models. NetSuite financial data flows into Hyperion on schedule, mapped to HFM or Planning dimensions, replacing the manual trial balance export every close cycle.

Your Planning Tool Needs Data. NetSuite Has It.

Oracle Hyperion (now part of Oracle EPM Cloud, though plenty of companies still run on-premise Hyperion Planning and HFM) is a heavy-duty financial planning and consolidation platform. It builds budgets, forecasts, and consolidated financial statements. But all of that depends on getting accurate actuals data from your ERP.

If your ERP is NetSuite, that data transfer is probably happening through spreadsheet exports. Someone downloads a trial balance from NetSuite, reformats it to match Hyperion's dimension structure, and loads it through a data load rule. Every month. Every close cycle.

The integration replaces that manual loop with an automated pipeline. NetSuite actuals flow into Hyperion on a schedule, mapped to the correct dimensions, ready for planning and consolidation.

What We Build

Actuals Data Extract: We build a scheduled extraction that pulls financial data from NetSuite -- typically at the trial balance level, broken out by account, department, location, class, and subsidiary. The extract runs after your close process completes and formats the data for Hyperion ingestion.

Dimension Mapping: This is where the complexity lives. NetSuite's chart of accounts, department hierarchy, and subsidiary structure rarely map one-to-one to Hyperion's dimension layout. We build and maintain a mapping table that translates NetSuite segments to Hyperion members. Account 6010 in NetSuite maps to OPEX.TRAVEL in Hyperion. Department 300 maps to ENG.BACKEND. These mappings need maintenance as either system's structure evolves.

Data Load Automation: For on-premise Hyperion, we push data through Hyperion's FDMEE (Financial Data Management Enterprise Edition) or direct data load rules. For Oracle EPM Cloud, we use the REST API and data management module. Either way, the load runs unattended with error reporting.

Budget and Forecast Writeback: Optionally, we can pull approved budgets from Hyperion back into NetSuite. This enables budget-vs-actual reporting within NetSuite's native financial reports and dashboards, so managers don't need Hyperion access to see how they're tracking against plan.

Intercompany Eliminations: For multi-entity consolidations, we coordinate the data flow so Hyperion receives the detail it needs to run elimination rules. Intercompany balances from NetSuite's elimination subsidiary get mapped to Hyperion's intercompany dimension for proper consolidation treatment.

Technical Considerations: The integration method depends heavily on your Hyperion deployment. On-premise HFM and Hyperion Planning use different load mechanisms than Oracle EPM Cloud. We've worked with both. The NetSuite side typically uses a SuiteScript-based extraction or a saved search feeding into middleware. The Hyperion side uses whatever ingestion method your EPM team prefers -- FDMEE, data management, or direct API.

Key Benefits

  • Eliminate manual data loads. No more monthly spreadsheet gymnastics to feed actuals into your planning tool.
  • Consistent dimension mapping. Automated mapping removes the human error that creeps into manual translations.
  • Faster close-to-plan cycle. Actuals available in Hyperion the same day you close, not days later after manual processing.
  • Budget visibility in NetSuite. Writeback brings approved budgets into NetSuite for real-time budget-vs-actual dashboards.
  • Audit trail. Every data load is logged with the source data, mappings applied, and load status.

Is This Right for You?

This integration is essential if you're running Hyperion or Oracle EPM for planning/consolidation and NetSuite as your GL. The manual alternative -- monthly spreadsheet exports and data loads -- is tedious, error-prone, and doesn't scale.

That said, if you're a single-entity company with straightforward planning needs, Hyperion itself might be more tool than you need. NetSuite's built-in planning and budgeting module or a lighter tool like Adaptive Insights might be a better fit. We're happy to help you evaluate that before building a complex integration.
