The Problem

Your SuiteCommerce isn't delivering results. Slow performance, poor UX, and an implementation that doesn't match your business.

Slow page load times

Pages take over 3 seconds to load. Shoppers leave before they see your products.

Mobile experience is broken

Most of your traffic comes from phones. But your site was designed for desktops years ago.

Breaks after NetSuite updates

Every NetSuite release breaks something on your site. Your team scrambles to fix it each time.

Marketing can't update content

Changing a banner requires a developer ticket. Your marketing team waits days for simple updates.

These aren't SuiteCommerce limitations. They're implementation problems. You need a partner who understands eCommerce architecture, not just theme styling.

About NetSuite SuiteCommerce

What SuiteCommerce delivers and when to use it

SuiteCommerce is NetSuite's native ecommerce platform — built directly into the NetSuite database so storefront, inventory, customers, orders, and financials share the same source of truth. There's no integration layer because they're literally the same system. For B2B with contract pricing, customer-specific catalogs, and credit limits, this single-database architecture is the core advantage over Shopify or BigCommerce running via integration.

01

Standard vs Advanced editions

SuiteCommerce Standard (~$2,500/mo, $30K/year) for B2C and simple B2B. SuiteCommerce Advanced (SCA) (~$5,000/mo, $60K/year) adds customizable theme framework, advanced search, and richer B2B features.

Standard implementations run $15K-$25K; SCA implementations $50K-$100K+ depending on theme depth, B2B complexity, integration scope. Oracle doesn't publish official pricing — these are partner contract estimates.

02

SuiteCommerce vs Shopify Plus

Shopify Plus wins for B2C with rich storefront UX, broad app ecosystem, faster theme cycles. SuiteCommerce wins for B2B where contract pricing, account catalogs, approval workflows, and tight NetSuite financial integration matter more than storefront polish.

Companies running both often use SuiteCommerce for B2B and Shopify for B2C, integrated to NetSuite as financial system of record. Full comparison in our SuiteCommerce vs Shopify guide.

03

Theme development and customization

SCA themes are built with Backbone.js and SCSS; deployment uses SuiteCloud Development Framework (SDF). Custom themes take 4-8 weeks from scratch or adapting a base theme.

We've built themes for B2B distributors, manufacturers, and B2C brands. Theme work is where SuiteCommerce sites differentiate — out-of-the-box layouts feel dated against modern Shopify storefronts.

04

Performance optimization

A common SuiteCommerce complaint: page speed. Server-side rendering plus NetSuite database calls can produce slow Time to First Byte if not tuned.

We routinely improve SuiteCommerce performance 30-60% through cache config, image optimization, lazy loading, bundle reduction, Core Web Vitals tuning. Available as standalone engagement for existing sites — see our Core Web Vitals guide.

05

B2B portal capabilities

SuiteCommerce delivers what generic ecommerce can't for B2B: contract pricing from NetSuite price lists, account-based catalogs, multi-buyer hierarchies with role permissions, credit limit enforcement, payment terms applied automatically, ship-to libraries, quote-to-order, reorder automation.

These capabilities are why mid-market distributors and manufacturers choose SuiteCommerce over Shopify Plus despite Shopify's storefront polish advantage. Our B2B portal service covers the full pattern.

Process

How we work

A structured methodology for successful SuiteCommerce projects. Total timeline: 8-14 weeks for most implementations.

  1. 1

    Discovery & requirements

We audit your current site, document your needs, and define what success looks like. Duration: 1-2 weeks.

  2. 2

    Architecture & design

We create the technical plan, wireframes, and mockups. We confirm everything is feasible before we start building. Duration: 2-3 weeks.

  3. 3

    Development & customization

We build your theme, extensions, and NetSuite configurations. Modular code so updates don't break your site. Duration: 4-6 weeks.

  4. 4

    Testing & optimization

We test across browsers, check accessibility, tune performance, and run load tests. Duration: 1-2 weeks.

  5. 5

    Launch & training

Zero-downtime deployment, SMT and admin training for your team, and 30-day hypercare support. We don't disappear after go-live.

Investment

Transparent pricing

Pricing depends on scope, customizations, integrations, and data migration. We provide a detailed estimate after discovery.

Factors that affect cost:

  • Implementation scope (new vs. optimization)
  • Custom extension and workflow requirements
  • B2B features (portals, pricing, quotes)
  • Third-party integrations (ERP, CRM, PIM)
  • Data migration and catalog complexity

What's included:

  • Discovery and UX audit
  • Custom theme design & development
  • Performance optimization
  • Cross-browser and mobile testing
  • SMT training for your team
  • 30-day post-launch support

Not included: SuiteCommerce license fees (paid to Oracle/NetSuite), third-party service subscriptions, ongoing support beyond 30 days (available as separate retainer).

FAQ

What clients ask before signing

01

SuiteCommerce Standard vs SuiteCommerce Advanced — which one fits us?

+

SuiteCommerce Standard (SCS) is a templated storefront with limited customization. It launches in 4-8 weeks at $15K-$25K implementation and works well for simpler B2C catalogs or basic B2B stores. SuiteCommerce Advanced (SCA) gives full source-code access and React-based customization. It runs 12-24 weeks at $50K-$100K+ implementation and is required for complex B2B (account-specific pricing, quote-to-order, customer hierarchies), heavy personalization, or non-standard checkout flows. Roughly 70% of our clients end up on SCA; 30% on SCS.

02

How do we keep SuiteCommerce customizations from breaking on NetSuite releases?

+

NetSuite releases two SuiteCommerce versions per year (Spring and Fall). Customizations break when they patch core SuiteCommerce files instead of using the extension framework. We isolate every customization in modular extensions that hook into documented entry points — this lets us run a 1-2 day compatibility check per release instead of emergency rewrites. Clients on a managed retainer get this proactively two weeks before each release goes live in production.

03

Can SuiteCommerce handle our B2B workflows — quote-to-order, customer-specific pricing, payment terms?

+

Yes, but only on SuiteCommerce Advanced — and only with proper configuration. Native SCA supports customer-specific price lists (linked to NetSuite price levels), quote requests that convert to sales orders, account hierarchies, payment terms at checkout (Net 30 / Net 60), and credit limit enforcement. The pieces exist but the configuration is non-trivial. Plan 3-4 weeks of B2B-specific setup time inside a larger SCA implementation.

04

What about performance? SuiteCommerce sites have a reputation for being slow.

+

SCA sites with default theme configurations typically score 30-50 on Lighthouse — yes, slow. The fixable issues are: unoptimized hero images (use AVIF/WebP, lazy-load below the fold), too many third-party scripts loaded eagerly (defer analytics, chat widgets), no critical CSS inlining, and large React bundles (code-split per route). Done right, SCA sites can reach Lighthouse 75-90 on mobile. Performance optimization is its own service line for us, typically 2-4 weeks for an audit + rebuild of critical pages.

05

How do we integrate SuiteCommerce with PIMs, ERPs, or marketing platforms?

+

SuiteCommerce is native to NetSuite ERP — products, inventory, customers, and orders flow without middleware. For other systems we use Celigo (most common for Salesforce, HubSpot, Mailchimp), Boomi (enterprise scenarios), or custom SuiteScript + REST/RESTlet APIs (for systems without prebuilt connectors). PIMs like Akeneo or Salsify integrate via API; marketing automation typically syncs through Celigo flows. Expect 2-6 weeks per integration depending on complexity.

06

Can you take over a SuiteCommerce site built by another agency?

+

Yes, and it is roughly a third of our SuiteCommerce work. The audit usually finds the same issues: customizations dropped directly into core files (instead of extensions), unmaintainable React components, missing TypeScript, no proper deployment pipeline, performance issues nobody documented. We audit, document, and propose either a refactor (keep what works, modularize the rest) or a rebuild (start clean if technical debt is too high). The audit is fixed-bid 1 week; the recommendation depends on what we find.

07

Who owns the SuiteCommerce code and theme after launch?

+

You do. Every theme file, extension, custom React component, and integration mapping lives in your NetSuite account and your git repository (we set up version control if you don't have it). We hand over full documentation at go-live: extension inventory, customization log, deployment runbook, and a list of every non-default setting. If you take support in-house or move to another agency, everything ships with you. No proprietary frameworks, no lock-in.

08

How much does SuiteCommerce cost — license, implementation, and ongoing?

+

SuiteCommerce Standard licensing runs approximately $2,500/month (~$30K/year) paid to Oracle. SuiteCommerce Advanced runs ~$5,000/month (~$60K/year). Implementation services are separate: $15K-$25K for Standard, $50K-$100K+ for Advanced depending on customization scope. Plan 15-20% of implementation cost annually for ongoing development, optimization, and NetSuite release compatibility work. Total first-year for a typical mid-market SCA build: $110K-$180K all-in. Oracle does not publish official pricing — these are industry estimates and vary by deal.
